The Moment I Fell Back In Love With Life!

Deadlines, schedules, obstacles and routine seemed to cloud my life like smoldering fog. I was beginning to become fed up with the hum drum of life and all that it was inconsistently giving me. I wanted more from this life but it seems as if darts were constantly been thrown at me. I knew life was more than paying bills, going through trials and dying. I needed to put life on pause to hear nature’s heartbeat again. I knew I lost the love affair I had with life. I was determined to fall back in love with life and rekindle the romance I once enjoyed.

I knew my rose colored glasses became smeared with distractions making me miss out on the beauty of life. Life has a lot to offer but sometimes taking a step back to get off autopilot helps recalibrate things. And during the period of recalibration I recognize how out of sync I have truly been for the last three months. Although, Christmas is right around the corner my excitement has been minimized. I have been consumed with making ends meet and keeping my household afloat.

Something has changed about the way I view the commercialized holidays. I no longer see Christmas or any other holiday as a time to spend all your money on gifts. I believe that holidays are a time for gratitude and a time to slow down to fall back in love with life. The holidays are a time filled with life’s romance. Instead of getting caught up in spending lavishly I am deciding to get caught in falling in love with my life. When you learn to appreciate what you already have then abundance will flow. All the other trinkets are just icing on the cake.

So, today I made a decision to fall in love with life. I have to reject the routines, deadlines and schedules to put my life on pause. I am going to spend more time embracing nature, get out of autopilot and cruise to embrace the love of my life- which is living.  I am determined to live colorfully, laugh often & love fearlessly again!

I am going to fall back in love with life!

Self Care Plan: Fill Your Cup

Image result for self care quotes

Today, I made a serious commitment to sit down and start my self-care plan. I did the needed research to find the pieces to solidify my self-care goals. When you begin to think about self-care you have to take inventory of all the things that create your own humanity. So, as I began to research  I realized I needed to categorized every aspect of my self-care.

Your self-care plan can be divided into 6-8 categories such as mental, emotional, physical/wellness, beauty, social/relational (relationships of love & friendship), spiritual, financial and recreational.  Once you begin to create each category then it is time to focus on each specific area.

Before, I decided to start my self-care journey I wrote a rough draft of each area and my focal points. Self-care is about you filling every empty corner in your mind, body and soul. As I embark on this journey I am excited to take a year or more to focus on what I need so I can no longer have lack in my life. Many times in society we are programmed to believe that taking care of yourself is a selfish act. However, taking care of yourself is the most important act of your life.

I use to feel guilty about doing stuff for myself until I realized other people had no problem with taking from me. I would give and give until I couldn't give anymore. This became an issue because I was depleting myself. I consistently gave my all to other people which is never a good concept. When you fall into the deception of giving your all then you are allowing yourself to lack. Lack is connected to scarcity and poverty. Abundance is the opposite of this system.

In order to generate abundance you have to fill yourself up until you are overflowing in all areas of your life. Refueling your mind, body and soul is an important criteria in order to be able to help others. Giving back to others first starts with you filling your cup each day. When you can ask yourself "what do I need?"  then you can help someone else because your need is met.

In a world full of humanity we subtract ourselves from the humane part. I do believe if you give to others the Lord will bless you but I also believe in the concept of using wisdom on how to give and the measure to give.

Understand if you never fill your cup or become the first partaker everyone else including yourself will starve. I am tired of starving and being broke so I decided to fill my cup & then in return I can fill everyone else cup around me!

Me: The RE-Emergence!

For the last seven years of my existence I have literally only existed since I finished my nine years in the United States Navy. I have transitioned through a lot of personal pains and obstacles that help me shape a better me. In the last seven years I had to face a death of a child, living in a city where I was not happy and most of all dealing with demons from my past. In spite of all negatives God was developing me so I could become a perfect positive picture of healing.

Everything I may have endured in this desolate place help me become authentic. God use my wilderness experience as a time to purge me, strip me and identify the real me. The process was painful but each negative continued to develop a more posed, elegant & confident woman I have become. In the last stretch of my seven year journey I am facing the demon of my past.....my rape! Eighteen years ago I was raped and I never confronted the pain or lowness I felt about myself.

However, 2015 I said no more to torment &  decided to seek out therapy to find my self-worth. This has been a challenge for me because I am learning self-confidence, self-value & most of all self-preservation. I am now inspired to fill my cup until it runs over.

My re-emergence will change the game because the girl you knew no longer exist I am reemerging not only as a woman full of her worth but I am a Queen that no longer is scared to shine.

I recognize my diamond quality and no longer can allow anyone to taint my shine!

I matter.
I care about me.
And I will take care of me.
I can not give & give only to be empty.....Those days are long gone!

I charge you to reemerge in a different way in 2016 & fill your cup!

Thoughts That Shape Our Life....

I am great believer in understanding that what we think has a great amount of power to shape our world. At the end of 2014 my goal was to create a better community of readership on my blog by creating monthly themes. After, changing my mindset on the success of my blog it has become an international place for inspiration.

My goal was to create a blog that was inspiring as well as give my readership community solutions, tips & life coaching through life obstacles. This year I have became more confident in my writing skills. I have realized that this blog is far beyond talking about myself but is utilized to help others understand they are not alone.

Below are some powerful thoughts that helped me shape a successful year for my blog:

1) I am a great writer. It important for me to believe in myself and to take time to invest in my writing skills.

2) Do what I love. If I was not doing what I loved then I truly was not loving me.

3) My voice is important. There are many blogs in the virtual world but my blog was different because no one has my story. My voice matters and my story matters.

4) One Person. If one person clicked my page and read my blog post I was making a difference. It's not in the quantity but in the quality.

5) Authentic Me. It is important for me to tell my stories from an authentic place. When you are authentic in your blogging you will attract the crowd that you desire. Just be yourself & write from the heart!

Age Ain't Nothing But A Number!

Age is not a deadline it is the beginning of a new era! ~Stylicia~

It is funny how we live in a world that gives us a particular age limit to have kids, get married and all the other superfluous stuff. However, I believe putting limits on yourself due to your age can literally handicap your future. I do understand age is important when it comes to the regular things such as driving, drinking and understanding the fundamentals of life. However, we should not put an age on our dreams, success or living the life we desire.

I remember when I told God if I am not married and have another child by 35 then it was a wrap for me. Now at 36 going on 37 I laugh at my ultimatum that I gave God. I realize there is beauty in embracing every stage of your life at every age. I am not married at this point in my life and I definitely don’t desire another child. I never knew that my 30’s was a time for me to explore my authenticity, heal from my past and embrace newness. We live in a society that can sometimes be caught up in the numbers but as we progress America is realizing age is simply a number!

After 36 years of living I realize I can be who I want to be and I can do what I want to do at any age. The only thing that will limit me is my mindset. You can get married at 50, have kids at 42 or go back to school at 60. Age is not the determining factor in your life from succeeding…..your mindset is! When you put a deadline on how much you can accomplish due to your age then you limit your potential. We all have the potential to be great but some of us choose to wait until a certain time to achieve the things we want to do.

Have you ever thought about retiring at 30, 40 or even 50, if so what is stopping you? Absolutely nothing! It is time to get rid of the deadline in your head and start living again, start dreaming and pursuing the life you desire. Yes, it’s true with age comes responsibility and wisdom but also with age comes grace to appreciate life a lot more. I can attest to this because the older I get the more I appreciate life and all it has to offer. If you started to put deadlines in your head I want you to take a step back and erase those pesky things. Watch and see how amazing your life can be if you start to embrace the moment at any age because in reality age ain’t nothing but a number!

The Grace Anatomy

When I think about the gift of grace I am reminded of how we are given favor in situations that sometimes do not seem favorable. However, grace has the power to give us a second chance, another opportunity to recover from our mistakes. Everyone deserves a period of grace to choose a better path for their life.
