Long Distance Love

In today’s evolving world technology has made it possible to have a relationship when people are thousands of miles away from each other. We are bombarded with so many options to keep in touch with our loved ones even if they are located somewhere else. However, people who prefer the human touch desire their mate or significant other to be in close proximity. Whether love is long distance or in close distance it takes hard work to make a relationship successful. When couples have to deal with the strain of being apart they have to make an effort to maintain communication, trust and schedule times to see each other. Long distance love can be challenging but it is not impossible if two people are willing to make their love work.

In order to maintain a successful long distance relationship both parties should be aware of each other’s schedule. When you are aware of each other’s schedule then you know the best time to talk each other. If both of your schedules are hectic then it may be best to schedule time to connect via Skype, ooVoo, etc. Communicating is a major factor in all relationships without it no relationship can survive.

The next most important factor is making time to see each other. This process can be fun in a long distance relationship because you both get to catch up with each other’s lives. Discussing the exciting or not so exciting things that happened in your life can be a great approach to reconnect. When both parties live in different places it can be an adventure. Sightseeing one another’s city can be fun for both partners. In the long run, making memories together is the most important thing as a couple.

Another positive factor is creating effective time management in long distance relationships. When you are in a long distance relationship you will not waste valuable time with the one you love instead you will cherish every moment together. The big things become minute and the little things become more important. You will not spend time being angry over a small or big dispute instead you will forgive quickly. Moving forward is a big attribute in long distance relationships because you spend less time on the unnecessary things and more time on the things that matter, which is each other.

Lastly, long distance love is not for someone who is insecure. If you have a lack of trust or faith due to past relationships then it would be better to work on those issues before you enter into any relationship. No man or woman wants an insecure partner. No relationship is perfect but taking time to discuss each other’s dreams, future and making sure you both are on one accord will equal a relationship that can weather the storms of life.

Breaking All The Rules

As technology continues to evolve in the 20th century it has given us many options on ways we can meet new people. However, in this new genre of dating there are still many do’s and don’ts that can make people feel erratic. Some people have dismissed the notion of finding that special someone in their dating voyage.

Dating has become more like a full time job that has made men and women weary in every aspect. In the midst of the dating voyage many self-help books are created to assist men and women in the dating process. Self- help books, matchmakers and dating coaches have formed an alliance to give men and women a step by step guide to dating and falling in love.

However, I believe there is no magic antidote to dating or falling in love. As I have journeyed through the process of dating I realized rules are meant to be broken. I have read several self-help books on dating which assisted me in the navigation process of dating, but I can truly say the best experience is when you create rules that work for you in the dating journey.

There is no perfect man or woman that you will meet to cure your love drought however, the remedy for your dating blues is knowing what you want in a potential mate. I believe dating should be easy and relaxed when going through the process of meeting that new person. Sometimes dating can feel like a full time job because we tend to put high expectations on the other person.

Everyone should enter into the dating scene with no expectations but to have a great time. When we begin to set high expectations in dating the pressure of authenticity is dismissed because both parties tend to be an illusion of what the other person want them to be. In order to make dating enjoyable I have provided 3 steps to help you “break all the rules” in your dating journey.

Breaking All The Rules Tip:
1. Be Yourself- The most powerful antidote in dating or meeting new people is being yourself without giving someone so much of you in the first meetup. The best thing to put in practice is striving to be subtle. Less is always more.

2. Relax- Take your time to prepare effectively for your date do not put high expectations on the other person before you had a chance to meet them. It is never fair to demand perfection from someone else when you are not perfect either.

3. Fun- Never take fun out your vocabulary, enjoy the moment and do not make plans for the future with the person you are dating. It is important to focus on enjoying the moment and making a new acquaintance. After you have accomplished this understand that it is okay to make rules to fit your boundaries and desires in dating. Dating should be enjoyable not a fulltime job!

Restituted Love

I believe love is the most profound emotion that we exude to others. Sometimes we can get the definition of love misconstrued with other things that are not a real representation of love. Love is defined in many aspects but the best definition of love I can gather is according to 1 Corinthians 13 in the Bible. We have all had our idea or perspective of what love is or could possibly be, but when you truly experience love you realize what it really is. So many times in my life I believed that I was in love with the different guys who perused in and out my life. However, I had no clue of what love was until I went on a three year journey of learning to love myself.
Loving yourself is the beginning of discovering the power of love because you begin to accept yourself flaws and all. I spent three years understanding why I kept attracting the same type of guys over and over. The underlying problem was simple I did not love myself at all. I compromised my values, standards, beliefs and ideas to accommodate men who had no intentions of loving me for life. I called my journey, my authentic journey due to the fact I was becoming the person I was always destined to be. The real me was submerging from the cocoon of fear I lived in for years. It was time for me to embrace the woman I was supposed to become all along.
As I began to love myself I gave myself permission to be free.  I was free to unleash the unadulterated me without anyone’s approval. I dismissed myself from the need to please everyone and understood the need to restitute my love.  Instead of giving my love away to men that did not deserve my love I started to repay myself back with love. And in return of restituting my love to myself I attracted love. No longer am I chasing after love instead love found me and I embraced it wholeheartedly. I can truly say I am in love with the man in my life because he pursued me. The thing that took him by surprise was my contentment in being happily single. He told me I did not look thirsty which meant I did not look desperate for love.
We all deserve love and companionship do not deny yourself what you deserve. However, you first have to learn to love the most important person in your world which is You! Take the needed time to restitute yourself with love; take a year off or more to spend time loving you. I promise, you are worth the investment and your greatest return will be attracting someone who loves you with the same passion.

Find time to restitute yourself with love!
